• The company was founded in 1885 by the brothers Nevoigt in Reichenbrand near Chemnitz. Towards the end of the same year began the single production of bicycles, the first diamond bicycle from serial production was manufactured 1895.

• By 1945, a total of some 1.3 million diamond bicycles were produced. In May 1952, the company was nationalized and officially the Volkseigene enterprise VEB bicycle works elite diamond was founded.

• In the 1970s and 1980s, Diamant engineers, under the direction of the Leipzig engineer Paul Rinkowski, developed racing bikes for the national team of the GDR, which won numerous international competitions.

• Between 1949 and 1990, 8.4 million diamond bicycles were built.

• In January 1992, DIAMANT Fahrradwerke GmbH was founded with the participation of the Villiger Group in Switzerland.

• In 2002 the company was taken over by the Trek Bicycle Corporation.
