The new Shimano Steps MTB drive enables the FOCUS engineers to develop a completely new dimension of the E-MTB. With stunning 756 Wh battery power and integrated drive, Shimano sets new standards in the technology of the electric bike. And without compromising on geometry, kinematics or design, because driving is crucial.
The narrow Q - factor of 175mm ensures efficient pedaling, just like an MTB without drive. Therefore, there is no perceptible resistance when driving without assistance.

The Shimano Steps MTB drive is characterized by its compact design and its low weight (less than 3.2 kg). Shimano sets the bottom bracket drive axis to a maximum far behind. Which allows the shortest chain strut and thus an extremely manoeuvrable rear body with maximum stiffness. Together with the same pedal position as with an all-mountain bike without a drive, you experience unlimited fun and trail fun.
Through the Focus Airflow Intakes, fresh, cool air flows into the lower tube, where the fully integrated battery is installed. Through this air inflow, the resulting heat is transported away through the lower pipe. The result is an optimal ventilation of the integrated battery. The drive design is optically enhanced by the integrated cable management of the e-bike.
The JAM² and BOLD² models from Focus are equipped with Shimano's specially developed energy concept (T.E.C.), which offers an incomparable battery performance of 2 x 378 Wh (total 756 Wh). A part of the battery was formally built into the lower tube, so that as light as possible an E-MTB and a super deep center of gravity can be achieved. The second battery can be easily and flexibly mounted as an additional battery via a bracket and can be plugged in if necessary.
Another option is to use the Smart Rack on which a bottle holder is mounted. This way, you can simply choose a drink between the drinking bottle and the auxiliary battery during the journey. The rack integrated into the Smart Rack provides additional space for equipment such as a replacement hose. With the Hardtail Bold² there is even the possibility to mount a drinking bottle on the seatpipe.
The engine supports up to 25 km / h with 36 V (250 W) and 70 Nm. The support is freely selectable in ECO, TRAIL and BOOST mode. This allows you to freely decide whether you want to drive up to the trial climb or to feel the true force fold for steep, demanding Uphill-Trails with the BOOST mode.
Cleaner look, low center of gravity, extremely good handling!
The clear and intuitive color display is super-protected between handlebar and stem and does not fall into the beautiful and clean look of the bike. A Bluetooth and ANT private chip is used for best interconnectivity. So the system connects to the smartphone and works perfectly with the Shimano DI2 circuit.
The ergonomic Firebolt switch with sliding aid shows the mode on the left and the gear change on the right side in conjunction with a Shimano shift. This facilitates the adaptation of the power development to the current driving situation without giving up the control of the cockpit. This makes driving more economical and achieves even more range.
