Bosch presents an ABS for e-bikes!

Driving e-bikes is even safer now: Bosch is currently launching an antilock braking system for e-bikes!

Bosch has been the expert in ABS safety systems for motorcycle safety systems for more than 40 years. Based on the same technology as the motorcycle ABS, there is currently an anti-lock system for driving the Performance Line Cruise and Speed, which makes e-biking on the road and overland safer. Thus, now a controlled, more stable braking is possible even in difficult road conditions. The Bosch ABS consists of a combination of front-wheel ABS and rear-wheel lift control, which means that during difficult braking maneuvers, the pressure on the front brake is regulated, thereby stabilizing the driving situation. At the same time the possibility of lifting the rear wheel is reduced.

These components make up the Bosch E-Bike ABS:

  • from the ABS control unit
  • from a separate ABS indicator light
  • from the ABS wheel speed sensors
  • from the specially developed by Magura CMe ABS brake
  • the Magura ABS sensor disc + brake disc

And this is how the ABS works for e-bikes:

The speed of both wheels are monitored by wheel speed sensors. If the front wheel locks up when braking too hard, the ABS significantly improves the driving stability and steerability of the e-bike, especially in slippery road conditions. Thus, the braking behavior is harmoniously and sensitively regulated, this brings significantly more control and safety. With extremely strong overbraking of the front wheel, the Bosch E-Bike ABS reduces the possible lifting of the rear wheel thanks to the intelligent rear wheel suspension control. Thus, the front brake can be used more actively and the likelihood of a rollover drops. The entire ABS system weighs about 800 grams and activates from a driving speed of 6 km / h.

The engineers at Bosch are convinced that the use of such a system can sustainably improve traffic safety.

From spring 2018, the first e-bikes with ABS system will be on German roads. Sure, it will soon be in our online shop e-bikes4you.com e-bikes with the ABS from Bosch.
