While on the European e-bike market, FAZUA evation drive system is already an established term and the sign for ground-breaking innovation and outstanding design, the North-American (e-)bikers have just recently had the first change to meet-and-greet this revolutionary product.
FAZUA evation is a radical e-bike drive system that perfectly closes the gap between most e-bike systems and non-motorized bikes. Founded in 2013 in Munich Germany, FAZUA company has created an electric bike system that allows for high degree of flexibility, significant weight savings and delivers surprisingly natural ride feeling.
The evation drive system was especially developed for high-performance riding. What makes evation system so unique is the special clutch that separates the motor and bottom bracket when riding faster than 25 km/h (15.5 mile/h). This means that riders can then pedal without feeling any resistance from the motor, using only their own muscle power but get an additional support in those uphill passages, in starting or when headwinds kicks in. The system can also be used for special targeted workouts such as trainings in low pulse range. The system is easily operated by a Bluetooth remote button attached to the handles, where the rides can choose between two modes of support – light ‘back wind’ support in the Breeze mode or some solid power in the River mode. Because of these features a ride with the evation system very much resembles the performance of riding a non-electrified bike with a soft back wind rather than an e-bike.
Besides the natural ride feeling, FAZUA evation also surprises by its minimalist design and very light weight. The whole motor including the battery and electronics is combined in one drivepack coming down to merely 3.3 kg (7.3 pounds) of weight. The drivepack is elegantly intergrade into the down tube of the bike, making it almost invisible and very easy to handle. The motor unit can be deactivated any time (or automatically when the rides exceeds 25 km/h), creating no resistance to the rider; and the whole drivepack can be added or removed from the tube turning a pedelec to a normal bike in a split of a second.
With the development of the evation drive system FAZUA has achieved previously unattainable and rightly has received a great deal of recognition for its innovative product. Among others, in 2017 FAZUA was proud to receive the EUROBIKE Gold Awards, undoubtedly the biggest and most prestigious award in the bike industry, and last year it was awarded the DESIGN & INNOVATION AWARD 2018 and that already in three categories: Newcomer, MTB Components and Road. These awards serve as the physical approval of the benchmark achievement for the bike industry’s highest-performing product and they have caught the eye of several renown bike manufacturers. The biggest bike brand such as CUBE, Focus, Bianchi, Fantic, Pinarello and Maserati have soon recognized the potential of the new system and the benefits and opportunities it brings along, and have integrated evation drive system into their new collections of e-MTB, e-gravel as well as e-race bikes.
